Do You See What I
See?
Have you been in a video store
lately?
I don't go often, as we don't watch much TV or rent many movies.
I always feel like I have to put blinders on my young sons as I
guide them past the trash into the children's section. And I am
always appalled at how hard I have to hunt to find decent movies
we can watch.
But when our family visited one last weekend I was especially
disgusted. Being October, I suppose they've stocked up on every
horror film ever made – for people to celebrate what is it? Oh
yea, the Devil's holiday, Halloween. One minute of walking
through gave me the creeps. Have you ever seen such a sick
display of graphics in your life? And the titles?! Good grief!
Only people with twisted, perverted, demonically controlled
minds could think up, produce and direct this evil. And how do
the actors and actresses sleep at night? (I'm sure they have
nightmares!) What bothers me even more is that Americans buy
this garbage! (So much wouldn't be produced if there weren't a
demand for it, right?) Who watches this trash – and why?
Christians definitely should not be entertaining this refuse.
1 Thessalonians tells us to "Hold
on to the good. Avoid every kind of evil ." Do a quick word
search on evil and see what God thinks of it. You'll see that He
hates it; He will punish us for it; we're told to put it off,
behind us, out of our minds; we are to prevent our feet, hands
and tongue from getting into any of it, and we are not to put
any of it in front of our eyes!
In case you've become sensitized by the ways of our culture, and
think I'm a crazy, raving lunatic read Isaiah 5:20. Almighty God
says, "Woe to those who call evil good and good evil."
I see evil. I call it evil. I will not put evil in front of my
eyes.
