Y Feeling Desperate For a Man?

Luke 4:18 "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed;

Casting all blame aside, just being honest with yourself - if you are fresh from a divorce, your heart is broken.

Your hopes and dreams for a forever after relationship with your ex-husband have been lost. The place in your heart that you had reserved for them now aches painfully. Maybe you are feeling absolutely desperate to get a new man into your life. You think that if you can just attract another man, you will be alright.

Can I give you a good piece of advice?

Don't run into another romantic relationship right away.

Really, don't.

Remember, desperation always equals deception. You can be so desperate for a partner after a divorce that you fall for the first one that comes along. Desperation attracts losers and users. You will probably end up in a relationship that is even more destructive than your last.

There is only one relationship that you need right now and that is your relationship with Jesus.

I know, I know. You want a man in your life. Maybe you even need a man in your life. Maybe you're in debt up to your eyeballs and you just can't face the dark of night on your own. Trust me, before you can open your heart up to a man again, you need to open your heart up to Jesus first.

There are wounds in your heart right now that only He can heal. There are wounds down deep inside that only He can see! Wounds that you aren't even aware of yet. So instead of looking for ways to spend time with some man - look for ways to spend time with Jesus.

Your Father in heaven wants to spend some time with you. He will use time alone with you to show you that you are a beautiful and highly treasured woman. He will bring healing into your life, one wonderful day at a time as you learn to find your safe place in Him.

You will find that He is all you will ever need to be satisfied and filled with Joy. Then, whether God ever brings a new man into your life or not, you're ready - healed up, strong in Christ, brimming over with love.

What is amazing, is that when you stop being desperate - when you are at ease with yourself and you know your value - you attract the best of the best instead of the worst of the worst.

Which will you choose?

Father God, help me to take some time to be alone right now. Help me to overcome these feelings of desperation. You know my heart and you know that I am afraid of being alone forever. But I don't want to go into another relationship until I'm ready. Help me cling to you Lord and let you heal my broken heart. In Jesus name, Amen.
