Y Leadership Tip - 10 Things You Should NOT Delegate!

1. Don't Delegate Communication with your Pastor! Keep your Pastor informed on what you are doing. Don't assume that they know what is going on! Always verify that your mission and vision are in agreement with the overall vision of your church! Be in submission to their direction!

2. Don't Delegate Communication with your Leadership!
Never assume that someone else will communicate something to the leaders in your Women's Ministry! Regular meetings are a good idea so that all of your leaders can hear what is coming up and offer their input. The quickest way to lose a good leader is to not keep them informed or have them feel that their input is not important to you.

3. Don't Delegate All of Your Promotion!
Our Women's Ministry has a strong emphasis on outreach so we promote our events as much as possible. Make sure that your promotion is tasteful and enticing! At this point in our ministry, we find that nobody tells our story as well as we do, so we try not to delegate this area to anyone.

4. Don't Delegate Selection of New Team Members! Hurting people hurt people. Take time to get to know the women who want to be involved in your leadership. Examine their fruit! Don't take someone else's word for it. One critical spirit on your team can create enough strife to set your ministry back on it's heels.

5. Don't Delegate Calendar Planning.
When it's time to plan for the future, my co-leader and I sit down alone and share our ideas and pray. Too many contributors at this level of planning is just too complicated! As the leader God has given you a vision for the ministry. Once you have an outline of events you can bring in other leaders to help you plan them!

6. Don't Delegate Follow Up!
When a new woman attends an event we get her name and address, so that I can write her a personal note thanking her for coming and inviting her to come back again. Personally writing these notes helps me to remember who the new people are and to look for them the next month.

7. Don't Delegate Leadership Appreciation!
Your leadership should receive encouraging and appreciative notes from you often! They should also receive lots of verbal exhortation! When it is appropriate let others know what a great job a particular leader is doing! When we are recognized as exercising our gifts well, we are also edified and built up.

8. Don't Delegate Finances!
At least not right away - Eventually you will likely have a financial leader to take care of this area if your ministry is large, but you should always know what is going on in your finance department. You are responsible for the financial accounting of your ministry. Verify everything! Make sure that all leaders turn in receipts and follow the guidelines of your church.

9. Don't Delegate Problems!
The buck stops here. Settle issues quickly and with love.

10. Don't Delegate Your Own Life To Others!
Keep your life in balance! Your husband, kids and extended family and friends need you too! Don't allow the demands of ministry, especially a successful ministry to pull you away from the important people in your life. Plan down time for you to rest and be renewed. Keep your daily quiet time with the Lord no matter what comes up!
