I faced a few moments of discouragement this week. My eyes were on other people and their successes. For a short time I felt like I would never measure up. What had started out as a really good day with lots of positive things happening, seemed to suddenly be worth nothing when compared to what someone else had accomplished.

Comparison has the power to change your perspective and it's not always a good change.

I am grateful, that I quickly took my feelings of discouragement to God in prayer and was reminded that I don't live my life in comparison to others. I am a uniquely gifted woman of God and I have my life to live, my jobs to do and my ministries to serve in. The only one I should compare myself to and wish I could be more like is Jesus Christ.

Is someone else doing what you wish you could do? Applaud them.

Is someone else experiencing the blessings you want to experience? Praise God for it.

Don't compare and don't allow jealousy to find a home in your heart. It will poison your thoughts and keep you from living the life that God has for you.

Father God, I admit that I have felt discouraged when I look at the successes of others and wonder why it isn't happening for me yet. I brush off jealous thoughts and I thank You for blessing their lives. I know that what you do for others you can do for me. I trust your perfect plans and timing. I choose to be encouraged by the hope that I have in You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
