Some would answer a hearty "YOU BET!" Others are too ashamed to
admit it, but sure do think it a lot. Where do we find that in
Scripture?
Scripture does say, "From the overflow of the heart the mouth
speaks" (Matt 12:34). So every time I speak in a condescending tone
I’m presuming I’m the mother and he’s the child? Every time I shoot
down his ideas I know better than he does? Every time I bark orders
rather than ask politely I’m acting like a master over a slave?
Maybe what I need is an attitude adjustment, not a new man!
There are ways to get our men to do what we need and want. There are
proper ways to communicate. There is also (and here’s the one we
tend to forget) the Godly principle of honoring our men. We women
have been so busy competing with men these last few generations, we
have neglected to practice being women! Women: beautiful, sweet,
God-fearing women whom men and women alike would chose to be around!
At the alter we promise to honor our husband "till death do us
part". Romans teaches us to submit to authority. The whole New
Testament teaches us to love, honor and submit to one another out of
our love for Christ. That about covers every man we have to deal
with, don’t you think?
Lord God please set a guard over my mouth that I may speak only
kind words of love and encouragement to the men in my life. Show me
practical ways to honor each one of them. And PLEASE work in my
heart to bring about the attitude change I so desperately need! In
Jesus’ Name, Amen.
